Outdoor Small Group Classes

These classes are based on the individuals that come. For puppies I do have a set 4 week course as this is such an important part of a dogs development both physically, mentally and emotionally.

My other classes are for adolescent and adult dogs, these classes will have a maximum of 4 dogs, you can book as many or as few classes as you want. We all lead busy lives & I want my clients to feel free to dip in and out of these classes. Perfect follow on from my Paws Puppy Class.

Above All Listen & Understand The Individual, Unique Dog

Help Your Dog Feel Safe in Our Busy, Human World

If your dog is feeling anxious being near other dogs we will increase the distance.

We will work on some basics, stage 1, 2 & 3 positive reinforcement loose lead walking, changing direction, sit’s, settles, waits etc, the aim is for your dog to be able to focus on you with other dogs around. Don’t expect any perfection, keep calm, happy we can tweek what we’re doing for the individual. Above all we need to make it fun for all.

There will be various simple activity areas, this is more free training play. They can investigate, do the activity, sniff out the treats, and we'll gradually work around these areas.

We will start working on some scent and brain games that you can carry on at home. Scent & brain games are very enriching for dogs, helps reduce stress, releases dopamine and helps to build even stronger positive relationships.

Hopefully you will want to come again. I'll keep a record of what scent / brain game we have done and at what level your dog is at and at the next class we’ll continue where you left off.

These are small groups, so Paws clients can dip in and out and it will always be at your individual level.

I will have my very chilled out old black lab, mainly observing from the side but a useful addition for when we are working with how to approach dogs, greetings and distance if your dog worries about other dogs. Also to demonstrate a brain or scent game, Skye is no einstein bless her but if there’s food involved she’s involved !

Do watch other dogs and people, I think it’s easy for us to think everyone else's dogs are perfect and ours aren’t, none of us are perfect. We embrace their individuality, laugh at some of our attempts and above all have fun while we are training.

If your dog is a bit barky, not a problem we’ll increase the distance, if they are super excited again not a problem we’ll tweek things as we go.
